fUN. sAFE. WELCOMING.
At Tonka United, we value our role in providing an excellent game experience for players of all levels. We strive to provide a fun game for experienced players to pick up touches, while also being a comfortable place for beginners to fall in love with the world’s game.
Our Key Rules, applicable to all game types, lay out the core of our philosophy.
The Key rules:
-
This is not competitive, it's a chance for exercising and teamwork with friends!
There's no need to keep score or excessively celebrate.
Leave your ego at the door, and assume your teammates and opponents have good intentions.
Remember this is a group for all skill levels and less experienced players should be welcomed and integrated.
Pass to all players freely regardless of prior mistakes.
-
Shoulder barging both on and off the ball is totally banned and will result in the ball being given to the other team.
Make any contact minimal and keep your body under control. Know your challenge level and limit aggressive 50-50s in favor of giving space and jockeying.
If a player gets by your first challenge, don't make a second lunging challenge that could result in a dangerous contact.
Giving up a goal is ALWAYS preferable to you or another player getting hurt.
-
No hand fighting, stiff arming, or raised elbows.
Try to release the ball befre reaching contact with an opponent
Keep your arms low and don't push your way through, even if you're on the ball: you're not playing soccer.
-
We're all playing for fun, there's no need to slide, ever
No defensive slides. No foot first slides from the Goalkeeper, and no slides to reach a ball for a shot.
Any intentional slides will immediately result in a 2 game ban. -
There's never any need to trash talk. Nobody is intending to cause trouble, please give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Friendly advice is only welcome if asked for. Please stop asking teammates to modify their play if they ask you to.
